Die Fabrik befand sich am Leuven-Kanal in Wilsele. Er benannte sein Unternehmen „Marie Thumas“ nach dem Namen seiner Frau, Marie Durieux. Anfangs arbeiteten nur etwa zwanzig Menschen dort, aber vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg waren im Sommer bereits 600 Frauen und 300 M\u00e4nner besch\u00e4ftigt.
